if instead of Scar appointing a male to be his heir, he chose a female to be his heiress. And if Simba has a son, instead of a daughter?

This would basically be the same story, but with the genders of the main characters switched. So, do you think it could have worked out?

I used to think it could but then, long ago, someone at MyLionKing once made an excellent argument to opinion that it would not have worked. I just don't remember what it was and right now I have to get some sleep. I'll quote it here should I ever find it. And perhaps I'll return to this topic with my own words too, later. I don't think so. The reason is because Somba having a son would be a rehash of the original film. As for Scar's side, he seems like a character to chose a male successor
