I used to believe that The Lion Guard is/was canon to the films, despite its constant continuity errors [silly me], but now that it's final episode is out.... I am REALLY dumbfounded as to how I thought this show was directly connected to the films ~ For those who have not watched the series, or do not have a good enough idea about this show, I will give you the main details - In Season 1, the Lion Guard encounter Zira, who attempts to manipulate Kion into joining her Pride - This plan fails and Kion roars Zira to the termite-mounds, which is meant to be territory out of the Outlands, despite Zira obviously living there in the beginning of SP.
Season 2, Kion's Roar of the Elders summons the ghost of Scar [as awesome as that sounds, the execution is played out very underwhelming], and plots revenge against Simba by allying all the Outlanders; Hyenas, jackals, vultures, crocodiles, and lizards - Why Zira and the Outsiders aren't there? It's likely because of continuity, which this show lacks. In Season 3, the Lion Guard defeat Scar, but Kion and Ono are weakened in the final battle, resulting in the Lion Guard traveling to the Tree of Life to get healed. Once he is fully healed, they return to the Pride Lands to find Vitani and Kovu settled into the Pride Lands - Here is where we get a recap of the events of Simba's Pride, however, this is where my analysis video comes into play about how exactly, this is a retcon.
Basically, according to The Lion Guard, Zira's plan in SP to train Kovu to be a teenage killer was all a Round 2, and it never actually happened until after Zira's meeting with Kion, meaning this show claims that the "My Lullaby" sequence NEVER happened - At all, despite the film directly showing us that Zira's plan was obviously cooked up after Kovu met Kiara and [by accident] giving Zira the idea to get close to Kiara in order to murder Simba. This obvious retcon is clear that this show is an alternate universe, and not tied into the movies as it was supposed to be, seeing as in SP and TLG, the timeline of Zira's plot clashes with each other so much, that it goes down to where both entities cannot be tied into each other.
